2016: Birdi is born
Brothers Sebastian and Abraham conceptualise Birdi, and get to work building a platform with our first developers.

Birdi began as a simple idea between 2 brothers, Sebastian and Abraham: what if we could improve the way organisations ran their operations through the use of drone technology?
Abraham had been living abroad in New York and was facing a couple of independent challenges in which he felt drones might help: 1) how to improve the field positioning of the touch football team he coached; and 2) how to boost the efficiency of rooftop solar panel inspections, that was part of the industry he consulted in.
He began flying drones for both of these use cases, and their impact was obvious (and his touch football team won!).
Abraham returned to Sydney, Australia, and after months of working long into the night with Sebastian, Birdi was born. Since its beginnings in 2016, Birdi has helped some of Australia’s most well-known companies experience the benefits of drones and aerial intelligence for improving their operations.
After finding our feet in the Australian market for the first 5 years, we’re now ready to spread our wings abroad and support companies with aerial intelligence goals across the world.

The Birdi 1.0 platform is launched and high fives are shared all-round. Our first industry customers trial Birdi with positive reviews!
Birdi 2.0 platform is launched, with improvements from customer feedback. We launch the Birdi drone pilot network with 200 pilots.
We continue to grow our enterprise customer base and our pilot network, and test the Birdi platform at scale across Australia and internationally.
We keep building features that enable us to support different industry use cases for our enterprise customers. Our pilot network grows to over 2,000 drone pilots.
We launch our new SaaS model to help organisations of all sizes to scale aerial intelligence in their operations. We know ourselves better now, and launch our new brand identity to match who we are.
We become the world’s aerial intelligence platform. We help countless customers around the globe to improve the way their organisations run through aerial intelligence.
Birdi HQ is in Sydney, but our remote-first team are based all around Australia, and soon to be internationally. Our team is fun and friendly, and we love coming to work every day! Birdi hires top talent from all walks of life, and we’re seriously committed to diversity and inclusion.
